Pawster Receives $12,000 Animal Welfare Grant from the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – December 19, 2024

Pawster is excited to announce that it has been awarded a $12,000 Animal Welfare Grant from the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee (CFMT). This grant represents an opportunity for Pawster to expand its capacity and create a more significant impact in the community. With these unrestricted operating funds, Pawster will increase capacity by 75 additional pets in 2025, by providing veterinary care for 75 pets while their families recover from crisis.

“Receiving this grant allows us to continue supporting people during times of crisis by providing compassionate, temporary care for their pets, and we are grateful for the Community Foundation’s support that acknowledges the importance of our work,” said Gabe Horton, Executive Director of Pawster.

CFMT has recently reimagined its grantmaking approach, responding to feedback from the nonprofit community by shifting towards larger, more impactful grants. This year, the average grant size has increased from $5,000 in previous years to $20,000 in 2024, targeting key areas such as Arts & Creative Culture, Child/Youth Development and Education, and Positive Mental Health. This marks a significant evolution in CFMT’s approach, focusing on fewer organizations for deeper, long-term investments.

“As we work together to build a stronger Middle Tennessee, we are honored to partner with Pawster in this journey,” said Adnan Karim, CFMT’s Vice President of Community Impact. “These organizations are the heartbeat of our community, and we are committed to supporting them in their efforts to bring creative solutions and positive outcomes to the people they serve.”
