The Human-Animal Alliance Awards $10,000 Grant to Pawster in Support of Military Pets
NASHVILLE, Tenn. – January 13, 2025
The Human-Animal Alliance, a nonprofit that directly supports programs that believe in the power and value of human-animal connection, has announced awards to keep military veterans and their pets united.
To this end, The Human-Animal Alliance has awarded Pawster a $10,000 grant to provide Crisis Foster Care and pet housing fees for veterans experiencing a temporary crisis. Pawster is a nonprofit in Middle Tennessee that supports people during times of crisis by providing compassionate, temporary care for their pets. At least 10% of the people supported by Pawster annually are veterans of the U.S. military.
“Our community has a large number of veterans who experience crises every day, including mental health crises that require hospitalization or inpatient treatment, medical procedures, loss of housing, domestic violence, and more,” according to Gabe Horton, Pawster’s Executive Director. “There’s no reason a veteran should lose their beloved pet because of a temporary crisis. This grant from The Human-Animal Alliance will ensure that we can support the people who have given so much in service to our country, when they need it most.”
The grant will be used to provide foster care for the dogs and cats of veterans, and to provide pet fees for veterans moving into new housing.
